RAISING EYEBROWS!

Aside from her platinum blonde locks, Jean Harlow's most striking feature was her eyebrows. Thanks to studio make-up departments, they practically took on a personality of their own.

Here's a look at the evolution of one of classic Hollywood's most famous facial trademarks:

From the pages of PHOTOPLAY April 1934: "Jean Harlow and Clara Bow are interesting eyebrow cases, because they haven't any. That is, they keep them removed when working in pictures to facilitate make-up. These girls use a fine pencil-line brow, you know. Jean's are good on the screen for her type."

Remember, this was done by professionals with eyebrow pencils -- don't try it at home like I did when I was a kid, LOL! If I ever find my old school picture, I'll scan it and be your sad little poster girl for over-plucking.
